The Pankow district of Buch lies in the middle of a forest area consisting of 250 hectares of high forest and the sewage fields with their typical flora and fauna that were closed in 1984. As part of the Barnim Nature Park, the Bucher Forst offers an important recreational area for the metropolis of Berlin.
Hiking routes, compiled by the Berlin Forestry Administration, provide suggestions for exploring the nature reserve.
