Rieselfelder, Liegekur and Runkel beetroot
The Blankenfelde Municipal Estate in the North of Berlin
The village of Blankenfelde still lies in the middle of meadows, fields and woodland on the northern border of the borough of Pankow. Where today Berliners go for walks, bike rides and horseback riding, sewage fields and orchards, sanatoriums and cattle stables, prison camps and border installations as well as garbage tips and building rubble dumps have come and gone.
The exhibition by the Museum Pankow and the StadtGut Blankenfelde e.V. association documents the eventful history of the Blankenfelde estate and at the same time provides insights into the history of Berlin.
The new section of the exhibition, “Blankenfelde in the Barnim Nature Park”, focuses in particular on the changes to the cultural landscape over the past thirty years. Those involved in the use of the landscape have their say, asking questions about the interactions between use and changes in the landscape against the backdrop of noticeable climate change. Questions about future development paths for the village and its surroundings are also addressed.
An exhibition by StadtGut Blankenfelde e.V. in cooperation with the Museum Pankow and the Barnim Nature Park.
The exhibition can be visited while the café is open.
Admission is free.
