The uncovering of the falsified municipal elections of 7 May 1989 and their consequences. A panel discussion with contemporary witnesses who observed the counting of votes in the polling stations of our district on 7 May 1989.
On the historical background: Local elections were held in the GDR on Sunday, 7 May 1989. Only candidates on the Unity List of the National Front were standing for election. If one wanted to vote with "yes", the ballot paper only had to be folded and thrown into the urn. To vote no, all candidates on the list had to be crossed out individually.
