Pankow as a motif. Max Skladanowsky

Film pioneer and photographer

In a revival, the Museum Pankow is showing the exhibition “Pankow as a motif. Max Skladanowsky – film pioneer and photographer,” which is dedicated to the lesser-known photographic work of the famous cinema pioneer.

The presentation is based on the exhibition that was on display in 2014 in the preserved living quarters from around 1900 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the museum location at Heynstraße 8.

On display is a selection of photographs, motifs that inspired Max Skladanowsky (1863–1939) in his immediate living environment in Pankow and Niederschönhausen: winter streets and parks and the leisure activities of young and old were just as much a part of his subjects as the urbanization of today's Pankow district. The photographs were taken in the first two decades of the 20th century and offer rare views and insights.

The accompanying publication “Max Skladanowsky – Film Pioneer and Photographer” is available for 7.50 Euros.
