For the sixth time this year the Italian Film Festival Berlin takes place in the capital. From 13 to 17 November 2019, the Kulturbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg will be showing some of the most important Italian films of the last season. The performances will be accompanied by encounters with directors, actors, producers and much more.
The following films were selected for the sixth edition of the Italian Film Festival Berlin: Il traitore (The Traitor) von Marco Bellocchio - nominated as Italian contribution for the Oscar for best foreign film -, Il primo re (Romolus & Remus. The first king) von Matteo Rovere, La mafia non è più quella di una volta (Mafia is not what it used to be) von Franco Maresco, Santiago, Italia (Santiago, Italia) von Nanni Moretti, Il campione (The champion) von Leonardo D'agostini, L'uomo che comprò la luna (The man who bought the moon) von Paolo Zucca und Bangla (Bangla) von Phaim Bhuiyan.
Once again this year, the Italian Audience Award (sponsored by Enit, one of the festival's main partners) will be presented on Sunday 17 December. A special performance of Io, Leonardo (Amazing Leonardo) by Jesus Garcés Lambert commemorates the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's death.
